A list/review of some cool Vampire links...

There are Vampire Fish, Too?
First we have vampire mites that attack bees, now we have vampire fish? It seems that a new fish was discovered in the Araguaia River of the Amazon Basin. It, well, lives off the blood of its hosts. Interestingly, it isn’t the only “vampire fish” from the area—there’s a blood-sucking species of catfish found there, too. The catfish “burrows into body orifices, securing itself to its host with spines along its sides and drinking its blood.” It finds its prey by detecting water streams coming gills, or in the case of humans, urine streams. HUMANS! URINE STREAMS! Talk about a way to stop people from peeing in the water… The new “vampire fish” is transparent (great, you can’t see it) and only 25 millimeters long (and it’s small, too), but scientists aren’t sure yet it if it targets humans. Great!

You have to ask yourself, if there are “vampire fish,” why is it so hard to believe that there are human-like vampires?

The Vampire's Daughter
It's getting close. The Vampire's Daughter's (is that English?) second part is gonna start. From the tag board, it looks like the author's gonna start posting on June Second. I can't wait! Just in case you were wondering, that's next Thursday...

A Vampire by Another Name…
I don’t know how valid this info is, but it’s interesting to see that so many different cultures have a name for vampires. How is it that so many disparate peoples created the same myth? After we’ve found so many parasitic animals, why couldn’t these myths have some validity? Eh, just wishful thinking…

Tool around the site a little bit, though, because it has some interesting stuff. Nothing too exciting, but worth a couple of minutes of your time.
